20/Aug/ 2026-YAGI FY3/27 Q1 Results: Winter Preparation Starts in Midsummer

It takes about 19 minute(s) to read this content.

On August 3, 2026, YAGI Co., Ltd. (securities code: 7460; hereinafter the “Company” or “YAGI”), one of the core portfolio companies of Hibiki Path Advisors SPC (“Hibiki,” “we,” or “our”), announced its FY3/27 Q1 results. We also had a meeting with the Company’s IR team after the announcement and would like to share our observations.

If we were to describe the quarter in one simple headline, it would be “higher sales, lower profit.” After the results announcement, the stock market seemed to react somewhat sensitively to the latter half of that phrase. However, our takeaway was almost the opposite. Profit declined year on year, but both sales and profit progressed ahead of the Company’s internal expectations, and Q1 sales reached the highest level in the past five years. The Company itself also explained that “against its full-year plan, which reflects the industry’s structurally second-half-weighted seasonality, Q1 progress has been ahead of expectations.”

As for the “lower profit” part, FX and logistics costs had some impact. More importantly, however, we confirmed that the main driver was upfront investment of several hundred mn JPY for future growth, including stores, people, advertising, and sales promotion. These investments put pressure on profit, but they are already beginning to show results in the form of sales growth.

The clearest example is TATRAS (see Figure 2). This was the first time YAGI disclosed TATRAS’s progress separately, and in Q1, the brand grew strongly in both the Japanese and overseas markets. In our discussion with the Company, we understood that TATRAS made a very encouraging start in both markets, with sales growth running ahead of the pace assumed in the full-year plan.

New stores are contributing, spring/summer products are gaining traction, and brand investment is starting to translate into actual sales. Wholesale orders for the crucial autumn/winter season are also off to a smooth start, in line with plan. Profit was pressured by upfront investment, but those investments are already beginning to bear fruit. To us, TATRAS appears to be moving up to the next stage of sales growth.

Of course, this is a business with a strong autumn/winter bias, so it would be too early to become overly optimistic. Still, the current situation gives us reason to feel encouraged about YAGI’s steady progress toward achieving its medium-term management plan.

A down jacket brand beginning to be chosen beyond the down season. A brand nurtured in Japan beginning to find its audience overseas. These are exactly the changes we hoped to see in Part 4 of our series, “TATRAS’s Path to Winning.”

We also found the appointment of actor Kentaro Sakaguchi as TATRAS’s global ambassador to be an interesting move. Mr. Sakaguchi began his career as a model and has appeared in widely followed works such as The Last 10 Years and Netflix’s Beyond Goodbye. More recently, he has also built a presence outside Japan, including through his appearance in the Korean drama What Comes After Love and his appointment as Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism.

He has also continued to appear in Milan’s fashion scene as a PRADA ambassador, while his starring film I Don’t Know You, scheduled for release this August, is a co-production with France and has also secured distribution there. He does not project an overly loud or flashy image. Rather, he carries softness, elegance, and an urban air. In that sense, his positioning aligns closely with the image we hope TATRAS will continue to build.

Now that many of the pieces are coming together, we feel the next step is to bring them into one strong narrative — and to make global consumers remember, clearly, what TATRAS really stands for.

Q1 is still only the “first fitting.” The pieces are beginning to come together, and the investments made so far are already starting to show up in sales. The silhouette taking shape looks encouraging. But with summer still in full swing, it is far too early to judge how the finished piece will look by fiscal year-end.

That said, we do not think YAGI should simply tell the capital market, “Please wait quietly until the garment is complete.” Showing investors where the Company stands today, what it aspires to become, and what kind of brand identity it is trying to shape is also an important part of IR. Even a beautifully made garment cannot fully communicate its value if it remains hanging on a rack.

As shareholders, we look forward to continuing to watch YAGI’s evolving worldview and its journey toward maximizing shareholder value.
