Hiroki Asano

Hiroki joined Hibiki Path Advisors as a Partner in February 2023. He has been investing in Japanese public and private companies for the past 20 years, specializing in engagement and activist investments for the last 3 years. He was a senior analyst and fund manager at Fidelity Investments Tokyo, and also he worked with Japanese IT companies as a venture led the launch of a venture capital business, then he co-founded Aslead Capital Pte. Ltd. in 2018. Through engagement investments, he is strong in supporting management team dialogue, governance enhancement, and growth strategies. In addition to its network of listed companies, his extensive network of top management at startups and top venture capitalists is another source of his unique investment strategy. In 2018, Hiroki established Aslead Capital in Singapore as its CEO to invest in Japanese mid- and small-cap stocks. For example, Aslead has been involved in supporting several portfolio companies on management buyout, turnaround growth strategies, share buybacks, and improvement of the parent-subsidiary listings, with a strong track record. In addition, he has been involved in investments in pre-IPO and late-stage startups, strengthening governance structures and creating post-IPO equity stories. He is also an angel investor who has invested in over 40 startups. As a senior analyst at Fidelity Investments, he was involved in investment analysis of more than 1,000 Japanese companies, primarily in technology, healthcare, and mid-small cap stocks. He also managed a high performing technology fund as a team leader. In 2020, he served as an outside director and audit committee member of Sun Asterisk Inc. and supported its IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers market.

He started his career at the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi and worked for a pioneering buyout fund before joining Fidelity Investment. He graduated from Waseda University with the Bachelor of Science, and obtained the Master in Finance at London Business School. He enjoys playing a rugby with 26 years of running in the fields.
