In September 2026, the GX-1 grand piano made by Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSE: 7952; the \u201cCompany\u201d or \u201cKAWAI\u201d), which Yuya Shimizu, CIO of Hibiki Path Advisors SPC (\u201cwe,\u201d \u201cus,\u201d or \u201cHibiki\u201d), personally purchased as a private hobby, arrived at his home. While this is a personal episode, it is also a small but deeply meaningful one for us, and we would like to share it with you. For your context, Hibiki has filed a large shareholding report as a 7.23% shareholder of KAWAI<\/a> (Japanese Only), and as a major shareholder, we have built a constructive relationship with the Company\u2019s management while sharing the importance of enhancing shareholder value.<\/p>\n

KAWAI\u2019s grand piano lineup includes the Shigeru Kawai<\/a> brand, which has already built a global reputation among professionals<\/a>, as well as the GX and GL series. This time, CIO Shimizu purchased the GX-1, the smallest model in the GX series, with an overall length of 166cm (5\u20195.4\u201d), making it relatively easy to place even in an apartment\u00b9.<\/p>\n

Our CIO, who has a deep appreciation for music, mentioned \u201cAlthough GX-1 is relatively compact in size, its tone is already beautiful that it almost leaves one speechless, and the touch of the keyboard is surprisingly light, delicate, and expressive. Playing it made me understand once again, not just intellectually but physically through my own fingers and ears, the meaning and significance of KAWAI\u2019s proprietary carbon-fiber hammer action components.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through this experience, we were once again able to feel firsthand the underlying strength of the craftsmanship and manufacturing technology that supports KAWAI\u2019s brand value. As a \u201cclose yet tough friend,\u201d we will continue our engagement with KAWAI so that this remarkable technology and brand value can be better connected to KAWAI\u2019s overall cash flow \u2014 and, importantly, to its share price.<\/p>\n

Our CIO also commented, \u201cMany studies have reported that music, and in particular playing the piano, may help prevent dementia among older adults\u00b2. I sincerely hope that the time will come when companies like KAWAI \u2014 companies that provide such opportunities through musical instruments and music education \u2014 are reappraised for their role in helping people maintain human dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n
