Hibiki Path Advisors started its humble equity investing and advisory business on 4th March 2016, when it became registered as a Fund Management Company (RFMC) with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. It is a great privilege to be involved in equity investing in the Japanese market at a time of transformational change in that country.

Japanese society and economy have faced severe headwinds ever since the bubble burst in the late 90s, with the great East Japan earthquake being only the most recent. Somehow, we have managed to overcome all the challenges and tough times, and still stand as strong as ever. I strongly believe that the true essence of such perseverance and power lies in the heart of the inspired individuals and “positive thinkers” who are most often to be found at private enterprises.

There are still many companies with management and employees that have the passion, creativity and aspiration which should enable them to transform Japan’s economy and become its future leadership “core”. Because the stock market is filled with short-termists, such “gems” are often misunderstood and overlooked. My mission is to shed light on those companies, as a value investor and an engaging shareholder, so as to cultivate common values and produce alpha for our clients.
